24.02.15.

Source Link

- the new physics model will be “leaked” by community contributors’ videos on Thursday (day after tomorrow)
- Storm confirms on closed beta-tester RU forum that the issue of servers giving you the same map over and over again is existing, but more than that: it is intentional – it serves to limit the load on the server, it is not possible to fix.
- a player reports that he has an issue in locking the autoaim on enemy targets (takes a lot of effort to lock on), Storm states there were no other such reports (as in, not an issue)
- it’s not possible to choose a map you want to play because the MM mechanism wouldn’t be able to handle it
- it’s possible that the physics test will also start on Thursday
- no comment on whether (and which) limited MM vehicles will be removed from the store
- Q: “AW will kill WOT!” A: “How terrible.”
- special missions to promote “unpopular tanks” (SU-101 etc.) will not be introduced
- tanks being “shifted” (moved) by hits from shells (kinetic energy effect) will not be implemented

- for PC, M6A2E1 will not be sold again (applies to EU and NA), the intent to make its owners stay really special, armor is still planned for rebalance (historical armor) when the HD model appears
- American T18 TD will be converted to artillery during the next big artillery rebalance patch. Artillery rebalance will happen at some point in the future, the one thing that could accelerate it is if the 9.6 accuracy changes prove to be really bad for arty class, otherwise it will take a very long time and has low priority. This change is the work of one of the US staff, likely The_Chieftain (SS: yup, IIRC, the proposed way is T18 – arty, replaced by T3HMC?)
- Minsk is getting tired of WG EU mismanagement of regular-to-unsatisfactory quality of customer service and are already planning something for it, however details are not shared by messages. A meeting is at hand. This means a lot of stuff, as WG will have to make changes to each and every language and their PR/Customer Support systems in order to “weed out” the deficiencies.
- NA server is considered the most “comfortable” community-wise, because “people are not at each other’s throats” and the staff is quite reliable, however “they know” that the suggestions forum is pretty abandoned (almost hopeless to post anything there as of now)
- a new chat feature that is considered is to leave messages to offline friends (only those that have you as a friend as well)
- WoWs will share premium resources (gold) just as WoWp and WoT
- WoWs vandidates for several mid-tier premium “boats” are being prepared, including a preorder one
- the new WG balance policy when introducing a new tank is to first add its “historical values”, then “overnerf the vehicle and finally strengthen it up”, because it’s easier to manage a vehicle with mediocre stats, because it involves less whines when actually WG announces nerfs and “everybody cheers” when they get buffed
About the Mauschen
- Maus won’t be buffed despite its t9 version coming out, so no 15cm gun for Maus (a developer here states that if they were to add a 15cm gun to the Maus, the “differences” with the E-100 would make the tank “a retard-on-wheels”, since “Maus should be driven for its armor, and we won’t balance it just because it’s not used in Clan Wars”. The tank is not for “everybody to drive, but anyone can get it”. Basically, to sum it up, adding a 15cm gun to the Maus would imbalance it and would make the W-100 look like a “wimp”, because it would be the same gun with much, much more armor, despite the E-100 being “one of the most used tanks in clan warfare”.
- tier 9 Mauschen should have one more set of rebalances before being added to public test, and yes, its double threads allegedly are a pain in the ass to penetrate and these things are currently “completely immune to HEAT”, thanks to the skirts + threads + hull armor
About the Japanese:
- no plans to buff Japanese tanks despite some devs saying that they are “mediocre at best up to tier 6″ in every aspect. Historically speaking, it would be impossible to rebalance, given that the Japanese guns, overall labeled as “weak”, weren’t really developed during that era. However, naval cannons are another thing. Also, for some reason, despite this performance labels, the tanks seem to be faring pretty OK in their winrate and player acceptance. Tier 7 to 10 are considered okay, many players seem to like the t7 tank autoloading gun.
- TD’s are scarce for the Japan tree as well, they’re looking into a gun that uses a 77mm caliber shell with no better performance than the one of the regular current guns of the branch, implementing it would mean “dragging that weapon for like 3 tiers and re-using the same gun for these tanks with different names now”, also quoting one of them saying “well, it either has a gasket-pooper or a behemoth gun” (some mounting a naval gun, one-shot wonders, almost like the SU-100Y).
- AMX 40 is now officially the worst tank ever, yet strangely, it has quite a number of fans, because “they like the ugly thing” and “duck” appearance, despite its gun being overly terrible for the tanks it faces. The rebalancing that will happen may increase its performance “slightly”. At some point (7.x era), the AMX-40 used to go backwards as fast as forwards.
- WG took notice of Japanese Anime called “Kantai Collection”, where some girls are naval ships (???), it’s possible they *may* do something with the publisher corporation, same as it happened with Girls und Panzer.
About China:
- Some of the WG staffmembers regret introducing the Chinese line before the European one, but they had not enough resources to assemble anything that would represent the euro line at that moment and even if they had, it would have a bunch of T-44/T-54 copies too, which would have been later scrapped by other tanks as they became available. The Chinese weere “surprisingly more active in helping us assemble the line (with a few stumbles and a lot of political suffering)”, especially when they announced their interest in opening a Chinese server (with their own rules) and the result is that the thing became a huge mess with all the payments and whatnot. However, Chinese tanks are popular there (as expected), but “it’s not something that we want to do again”.
- on that topic, WG is unhappy to see their game being converted into full derp mode on china, but “noting we can do about it”. There, it has a very strong pay to win factor- however, it generates a lot of income for them (Type59 floods) despite having to share their earnings with a third party corp. Also, the community is nothing short of “xenophobic” and.. (on a personal note), racist (“gaijin go home” type of racism) – even a certain KongZhong developer was recorded throwing racist insults around.
Random stuff again:
- BMPs and their concepts have been scrapped and shelved, there was one planned as a test, but it would have been “too high a tier” and “too weak a gun”
- Churchill Black Prince is gaining fame amongst some of the staff that plays and players too, apparently the tank is “comfortable” to drive and reliable, despite the slow speed and rather weak caliber gun, it makes it up for the superb accuracy and reload along with good armor layout
- AT-15A is a little more popular/better winrate now that it has limited MM and increased earnings “within the expected results”, meaning the tank won’t be seeing any more buffs or changes until the end of time
- no Löwe buffs planned
- WG will track AMX CDC’S performance in the following patches and see if the tank manages too poorly having a full MM and overall worse performance than the FCM 50t. If there’s going to be a buff, it will be slight, however the MM spread will remain unchanged
- if you want a solid performer, buy FCM 50t and not AMX CDC, as they are certainly planning to remove it from the store
- M56 Scorpion coming to stores “soon”, it’ll have full MM as well
- IS-6 won’t be removed from the store in quite a bit of time, as it’s the most purchased currently (SS: of tier 8 premiums? Unclear here)
- camo factor is still planned for rebalance, but first, WG will gather data on the TD nerf, as it’s the class that mostly “benefits from it” – meaning that they tend to camp more than any other tank, despite having the bonuses removed, since “it’s within their nature”
- IM involving setting certain amount of tanks on fire may get changed to be more RNG friendly
- it’s possible that this week (possibly today or tomorrow), videomakers will release first “official” (approved) videos with new, improved physics
- a new map (city map) was brought to supertest, pictures and minimal leak will come later. It’s possible that it will be limited to tier 1 to 8
- a completely new team will start working on World of Warplanes. Their task will be to revive the game.
- physics test will go “as planned”
changed (buffed, better angle) when the model is reworked to HD (possibly in 9.7)
- alternative hulls might not arrive earlier than year and a half
- by far not every tank will get an alternative hull
- tank destroyers never reached such an amount that they would account for 30 percent of all vehicles in battles on any tier
- Mauschen (tier 9 Maus) will have the same crew setup as tier 10 Maus
- Himmelsdorf apparently has some buildings that have bugged collision models (SS: this replay, 14:30 to 14:10, shells allegedly stop from invisible barrier – haven’t watched the replay though – Storm will investigate)
- E-25 will not have its size changed
- the shell damage RNG algorhitm was not changed for years, it’s not true that some guns have more shells deal minimal damage than others
- map “Overlord” in 9.7? “I cannot promise anything”
- in 9.6 accuracy nerf, changes to damage done are proportional to the accuracy of the gun (the less accurate the gun is, the bigger the drop in damage done)
- Storm doesn’t consider the fact that some gun models have relatively low amount of polygons to be a huge problem (“small thing with low priority”)
- when it comes to success, individual missions “exceeded all expectations”, the “result was really cool”
- the amount of polygons in a model does influence performance, it mostly depends on the GPU
- the decision not to release some content in 9.7 due to WGL is final, it was already postponed for 9.8
- if you get 7 TD’s per team only in 25 percent of battles, it’s apparently not a problem according to Storm
- currently, the amount of TD’s per battle is slowly decreasing ever since last few patches
- T34 premium collision model doesn’t correspond to visual model? “Happens. We will fix it when the vehicle is reworked to HD.”
- Storm confirms that the physics test will come soon, but there are difficulties with the “simplified” model, including issues with server performance, discovered in the supertest phase. The “simplified” variant thus has to be reworked and is not ready yet, so the test will only have one variant of physics, the “realistic” one.
- Storm states that the physics test will come “at the end of February, but no promises”
- Storm confirms that “many” IM conditions will be reworked
- developers are working on HD environment (maps) as well, no ETA though
- Soviet vehicle models as a whole will have a texture/material overhaul, the same goes for German and American vehicles, but not very soon
- Storm considers T29 to be very comfortable to play
- camo system has not changed from 8.6 apart from patch 9.1, in which the camo factor loss when firing a gun on a TD was normalized with other classes
- developers are collecting statistics on ingame complaints and it’s possible that the number of complaints will be increased, but the issue with this is that people use 2-4 complaints on one rule breaker
- the system deals with several million complaints every month
- when a complaint is made, it is saved on the server along with chat log, general battle log, damage log etc., everything is written down and WG employees have a look at the sum of information and make a conclusion out of it
- to report one player multiple times is completely pointless, the report will be investigated either way even it you report only once
- earlier, the amount of reports per day was limited to 5
- if multiple players report one player, that one player will be investigated earlier
- the amount of reports does influence the speed with which the reports against that player are handled

- it is true that the players with most reports against them are investigated first
- developers would like to implement a “positive report” (saying “thank you” to someone) – it’s possible it will be implemented, but there is no final decision yet
- voting on ban/kick will not be implemented
- investigation of reports by normal players (like it is in CS) will not be implemented, it’s too much responsibility and it would only end by people banning each other
- as a general rule, troll platoons are not punished, as they are not forbidden by rules, but situations where tier 10 tank brings tier 1′s into high tiers are investigated on individual basis
- bots are a major issue at the moment (they are being developed very fast), WG is strongly opposing them. When investigating a bot complaint, more WG resources are spent than when any other type of complaint is investigated
- general punishments for rule breaking are the following: 1 hour ban, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days and permaban
- investigating forbidden mods is the most difficult issue for game masters, as the files are running on player’s PC, but WG has some methods of fighting them and can determine, whether the player used illegal mods or not
- more complaint reasons will not be added, all the main points are already there
- developers are keeping tabs on recidivists, there is even a top ladder of rule breakers
- the compensation for damage caused to you by allies will not be implemented
- false reports do not lead to punishment
- do not respond to provocation, you will also be punished
- complaint system abuse by platoon, clan or company (as in, entire clan reports someone) will be noticed by game masters
- the automatic ban system (punishment for teamdamage) does take various factors in account, such as where the tank is located, where is it looking, how much damage did the player do etc
- the system keeps track of “teamkill points” and it’s possible that if you damage someone in the battle, you will be banned before the next battle after your last battle ends
- complaints in battle and after battle are reviewed exactly the same way
- AMX-13/75 will not be buffed in 9.7
- it’s not yet clear where the AMX-30 “microbranch” will start from
- the tank position “twitching” at above 500 meters distance will not be fixed with the arrival of the render circle
- IS-3 in HD will not appear in 9.7 test, it will appear in 9.8 test
- new (high res) penetration/ricochet decals will be made using “normal mapping”
- it’s not yet clear whether the maxium amount of penetration decals per tank will increase (SS: to be clear – right now, the amount of decals (“holes” and “scratches” from nonpen hits) is limited – after you get hit a certain amount of times, the older holes start to disappear)
- a player brought up a theory (shared by many apparently) that when you are using autoaim, your gun gets suddenly much more accurate (bigger percentage of shots hit). Storm investigated this theory thoroughly, they made tests of accuracy while the vehicle is standing, in motion etc. – the result is that autoaim does not increase accuracy in any noticeable way. Storm thinks the perception of accuracy increase comes from the fact that at longer distances (and with worse ping), the autoaim simply keeps tracking the target better than a player would
- new motion physics is not related to BugWorld update
- new BugWorld update should improve game performance, not reduce it
- the option to assist your allies to get back on their tracks (when the tank flipping on their back will be implemented, like in War Thunder) will not be implemented
- Storm agrees that the wooden barricades on Stalingrad map are “sad”
- in 9.6 there is apparently an issue, where the client disconnects during the synchronization of the account (“personal information”) with server, Storm states that this issue is limited to single report here and there
- how exactly will HD IS-3 armor look? “Wait for common test or supertest leaks”
- general WG politics (like why they left the E-25 unnerfed when WG openly admits the vehicle is imbalanced) are SerB’s decision
- apparently, ST-I has incorrect turret side armor angle. It’s possible it will be improved (buffed) when the vehicle gets reworked to HD
- Type 62 will not be buffed for now
- artillery class will not be completey rebalanced, for now anyway
- A-32 rework to HD has low priority

- no ETA on Dx11 support for WoT, but developers are actively working on it
- introducing Dx11 support requires complete overhaul of everything in the client, it’s much easier to implement it from day 1 than to rework existing game for it
- penetration and ricochet decals (SS: the traces that it leaves on the tank) will be changed (the same decal but of higher quality)
- in the future, “massive rebalances” will come
- Type 59 will not come in HD in 9.7
- developers know about the issue where the same gun (105mm M4) weighs one third on British tanks, when compared to the same gun on American tanks, but won’t change it for now. The reason for that (generally incorrect module weights) is that the module weights influence the total weight of the vehicle and that’s already a balance change. Now only the total weight of the vehicle is historical, noone gives a crap about module weights.
- in the game, artillery howitzers, when reaching the limit of their range, change their aim circle area from a circle to more like a strip, like this. Storm doesn’t consider it a problem, it will not be changed.
- T-34/85 turret (elite) has its mantlet incorrectly shifted to the left, it will be fixed
- replacement of the WT E-100, what gun will it have? “No comment”
- Storm considers the situation where content gets delayed because of e-sports normal
- details about the physics test will be published “later”
- Storm confirms: there is no time limit for individual missions
- in new physics, a tank will stop by itself just like it is now (when not pressing “W”), but it will happen slower. It will be possible to break faster using a handbrake.
